SaVoir 8.0.0 new features
Parameters appear at the right of the screen
New feature to allow configuring what parameters appear on the right of the screen (in green) when the user passes the mouse over a swath.
These parameters will be calculated dynamically by translating the mouse position into a geographical position and correlating it with the time when the satellite will acquire that point. It is possible to customize the default behaviour and add or define alternative swath parameters.
Added new swath parameter "Beta angle", defined as the angle between the solar vector (Earth to Sun) and its projection to the orbit plane, calculated at the centre of the swath.
New cumulative cloud probability map
The cloud probability, in percent, indicates the likelihood of having clouds over a given location when planning future acquisitions. This can be obtained from cloud forecasts or cloud statistics. Using cloud bitmaps, it is possible to estimate the cloud probability on a per pixel basis.
Planning of several acquisitions over an AOI at different times will reduce the cloud probability, so the chance of acquiring one cloud free image increases. This is now modelled in SaVoir and represented on the map.
New time plot of cumulative cloud probability is added, displaying the progressive decrease of cloud probability on an AOI as the number of overlapping acquisitions increases.
New "Minimize cloud cover" steering criteria
When Autosteering is ON, SaVoir will select the best steering angle to minimize cloud probability.
Cloud estimation will be taken from the statistical baseline, except when benchmarking is "FORECAST". In this case, the estimation will be taken from FORECAST data for the time window (now, to now + 16 days). Outside that window, the statistical baseline will be used.
New swath parameters
New Latency constraint
Added new swath parameters:
- "Range", as the distance between the satellite and the centre of the swath at the mid-swath time;
- "Height", as the height of the satellite above sea level at the mid-swath time.
The latency is the time elapsed between sensing and earliest suitable downlink opportunity. The Latency constraint allows to discard acquisitions not compliant with the defined minimum or maximum latency times. The Latency constraint is applicable to sensor modes or to AOIs.
New Ephemeris generation functions
The ephemeris tool has been improved to permit:
- Generation of separate tables for node crossings, ephemeris at ANX, nadir coordinates, orbit elements, and orbit events
- Option to export to text or to Excel
- Setting of calculation time step
Check out the release notes here. For those with a previous version installed, it is possible to download the update through the Check for Updates function, in the Help menu. For those without a license, the application is fully functional, with a 30-day free trial period. If you need to extend the evaluation period, please contact us for an extension.
